Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Worries.

'Major setback' for England after Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

Gus Atkinson further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the field during Saturday's play of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson pulled up with his left leg post-delivery in his spell at the MCG.

The touring camp reported Atkinson felt some "soreness" and was to take time on the sidelines in order to be assessed "during the day".

The series decider in this Ashes battle in Sydney starts on Sunday, 4 January.

England have already lost strike bowlers Mark Wood due to knee trouble and another paceman to a side strain on this Ashes tour.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

His form was underwhelming early in the series, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was omitted of the third Test, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test as Archer's replacement.

Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, bagging two scalps with the ball, then making 28 with the bat as one of just three English batsmen to reach double figures.

Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he returned for the second day's play and dismissed the nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

Yet, towards the conclusion of his spell, he sent down a variation to the batsman and promptly felt his left hamstring.

The English bowler was brought back for the Boxing Day Test following his omission of the third.
